ALMOST 12 MILLIONS BRAZILIANS¹ LIVE IN SUBNORMAL AGGLOMERATES – BETTER KNOWN AS SLUMS.

Social Outdoor services those people that occupy slums, vacant lands, highways and river margins, and private terrain. This population has partial access to basic public services: water, electric, and basic sanitation. Regardless of housing conditions, the fact is that this contingent integrates into the consumer market in Brazil.

Because of their diverse social-educational-cultural characteristics, they are different from the population of urban and countryside areas with traditional occupations.

This population has diverse social, educational, and cultural characteristics with its own codes for living together, world vision, and scale of dreams.

To work with the premise that this contingent of brazilians can be reached by aligned and hegemonic advertising is to ignore the complex and diversified reality of those agglomerates.

The Outdoor Social proposal is to include, in the process of communication and marketing, agents from those communities as media planners, message exhibitors and direct receptors of the same messages. A straight line is drawn between generators and receptors, minimizing the concurrence of other communications stimuli. They carry the references specific to this population - their identity characteristics.
